Corrosive Tops Second Day of Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale at 450,000 Guineas

Five lots sold for 300,000 guineas or more on the second day of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale with Middle Eastern buyers dominating proceedings. The turnover and average both eclipsed the figures set on this day last year whilst the clearance rate improved to a remarkable 88%.

709 - Corrosive Sells to Rashid for 450,000 Guineas

The high quality three-year-old CORROSIVE is set to continue his career in the Middle East after being knocked down to Ibrahim Rashid for 450,000 guineas after he saw off the efforts of Anthony Stroud. Consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment for Hugo Palmer's Kremlin Cottage Stables on behalf of owner Vefa Ibrahim Araci, CORROSIVE was offered with a Timeform rating of 107.

Rashid secured the son of UNCLE MO on behalf of Saudi Arabian owner Abdulrahman Fahad M Albawardi who also purchased CHECK YOUR POCKETS for 115,000 guineas and LEIGH’S LAW for 13,000 guineas.

"He is bought primarily for the King's Cup in Saudi Arabia," said Rashid, "but he will also go to the Dubai Carnival. The horse is a very good mover, he has a big heart and he vetted very well."

Rob Speers, racing manager for former owner Vefa Ibrahim Araci, was on hand to see the horse sell and he said: "The horse has progressed through the year to become a very good handicapper. He has a global appeal and goes on the faster ground." CORROSIVE was purchased at the 2017 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up for 150,000 guineas by Speers.

486 - Euginio Headed to Dubai Carnival After 400,000 Guineas Sale

The recent Group 3 Darley Stakes winner EUGINIO was the star attraction on the second day of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale when selling to agent Oliver St Lawrence for 400,000 guineas on behalf of Bahraini owner/trainer Fawzi Nass. The son of FASTNET ROCK, who has a Timeform Rating of 115, was secured by St Lawrence after he saw off agents Anthony Stroud and Saad Bin Mishraf.

"He has been bought for the Dubai Carnival and Fawzi Naas will train," said St Lawrence.

"Euginio is a sound, willing, Group 3 winner, he goes on the good to firm and will suit racing in Dubai. We were very keen to get him," he added.

The four-year-old was consigned to the sale by Richard Hannon’s East Everleigh Stables on behalf of owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar. Racing manager Tony Nerses was in the sale ring to watch the horse sell and he said: "We are delighted with that price, but I think they've got a bargain! The horse is very genuine and is still improving."

Explaining the horse's sale, Nerses said: "We are just having a little 'thinning' out as we have just grown a little too big too quickly."

731 Lucius Tiberius to Stroud for 320,000 Guineas

The Aidan O’Brien-trained LUCIUS TIBERIUS is another horse in training destined for the Dubai Carnival after Anthony Stroud went to 320,000 guineas to secure the son of CAMELOT at the expense of underbidder Johnny McKeever. The Ballydoyle inmate has won three times this year including two handicaps and was offered with a Timeform rating of 109.

"He is a nice horse, who vetted well and fits the profile," said Stroud of the three-time winning colt.

586 Mjjack to Saudi for 260,000 Guineas

Ted Voute and Saad Bin Mishraf, who yesterday secured the session topper ARCHETYPE, struck again to land the Karl Burke-trained MJJACK for 260,000 guineas on behalf of Prince Faisal bin Khalid. The four-year-old son of ELZAAM was offered with a Timeform rating of 118 following his third placing in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot on Champions Day.

Voute and Bin Mishraf have now purchased seven lots for 810,000 guineas in the two sessions so far.

The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale continues at 9.30am on Wednesday, October 31st.
